Collaborate with teachers and administrators to select and evaluate digital tools and resources that enhance teaching and learning and are compatible with the school technology infrastructureISTE Coaching Standards (2014)
The Digital Learning Team is partnering with the IT department to help vet educational apps and software. We are using the Learn Platform to inform the district of approved software and apps. I have shared the Triple E Framework with the committee to help review tech tools.
In my blog, Identifying the Right Tool for the Job, I do a mini needs assessment for vocabulary acquisition. Using the Triple E-Framework, I found that Vocabulary.com scored 16/18 which means it has exceptional potential to connect the learning through the technology tool. I, along with parents, noticed that my class’s writing improved as well as their academic speech.
Another vetting system that I use, as well as encourage others to use, is Common Sense Media. Common Sense Media rates media based on both age appropriateness and, for digital media, learning potential. They don’t receive payments for their reviews and aren’t influenced by product creators or through their non-profit board of directors.
