I interviewed our school librarian to find out some of our district’s policies on digital citizenship, equity, and the status of some of our programs/initiatives as they related to number 5 of the ISTE Coaching Standards.  I used Coggle.it mind maps to present our interview.

It was great to talk with her and find out what programs the district has chosen to use for teaching digital citizenship and how we as teachers can support the process.  I am most excited about some ideas we discussed in our post interview about sharing digital citizenship skills to our parents during a family tech night that we are planning.

We discussed some of the projects that our district had implemented in the past, such as a laptop program (the district gifted older computers to students with need), and an annual technology expo that are no longer supported because of budget cuts.  She reached out to her boss to inquire about the STAR program and he reported that they are trying to find creative ways to bring it back.  As far as the tech expo, we are coming up with some ideas that maybe we can implement a tech expo at our school level next year.
